Disley Podiatry Clinic

Biomechanics

It may be that your foot posture is causing or contributing to pain in your knee, hip or back or even headaches.  A biomechanical assessment will begin with a detailed history taking of your foot problem and discussion about footwear, exercise levels and routines and your occupation.

The podiatrist will then examine the function and range of motion of the joints in your feet and ankles.  This will be done with you seated, standing and during walking.  The knee and hip may also be tested and pelvic alignment checked.

After an initial diagnosis the podiatrist  will then discuss a treatment plan with you, which may include shoe advice, exercises, simple insoles or orthoses (shoe inserts)
